Dave Siegel at Global Crossing has an excellent post on net neutrality and the extent to which we are already prioritizing traffic — and how beneficial this is to his customers.
[N]o matter what the final solution may be, I believe that legislating/regulating it is a huge mistake.
He throws in some of my favorite Reagan quotes while he is at it. Dave’s key points:
- We need to leave all technological options on the table
- Premium services benefit consumers and lift all boats
- Service levels and prices (read: returns on investment) need to be negotiated by network providers and their customers
