If this is true, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors will be voting on a resolution supporting the impeachment of Bush and Cheney. Wow!
Reminds me of a certain international institution that spends a lot of time on pointless resolutions. Seriously, will someone explain to me how this in any way serves the people of San Francisco?
It doesn’t of course. But it might bolster the self-esteem political will of the Tourettic Left outspoken progressives that consider San Francisco the home planet. And them’s good politics!
This sort of academic exercise is just that -- ivory-tower pontificating which every citizen is capable of practicing to their own heart’s content. But don’t worry, fellow San Franciscans, your government is here to do it for you! To wit:
"One of the fundamental tenets of a democratic society is the freedom of elected officials to express sentiments on behalf of their constituents,'' said North Beach's Peskin. "And I believe the sentiments expressed in this resolution are widely held by the voters of San Francisco."
Just in case you think this is a sober exercise in governance, dig this:
"I never thought in my lifetime I would see a form of fascism where the corporate powers have taken total control of the government,'' McGoldrick told us.
