Glenn Reynolds has a good list of Katrina-related charities over at Instapundit. Send $100. Send $200...you can probably afford it.
Here’s a bit of charitable math for you. How much do you make a year? OK, divide that by 2000. That is, lop off the last three digits and cut it in half.
That’s what you get paid for an hour of work. Now, how much labor would you be willing to contribute to a cause? A day? Two? Multiply those hours by your hourly pay.
Give it, you can afford it.

Andrew Carnegie on charity:
"This, then, is held to be the duty of the man of wealth: To set an example of modest, unostenatious living; to provide moderately for the legitimate wants of those dependent upon him; and, after doing so, to consider all surplus revenues which come to him simply as trust funds which he is ... strictly bound as a matter of duty to administer in the manner which ... is best calculated to produce the most beneficial results for the community -- the man of wealth thus becoming a mere trustee and agent for his poorer brethren."
